Whole School Update Week 1 Term 2

Whole school reminders/updates:

Welcome back to Term 2.  We hope you had a restful holiday and are now ready for the learning experiences this term.

Unfortunately our phone lines are experiencing difficulties as businesses in the area transition to the NBN. We are working with our current provider to ensure this is rectified by close of business today.
However in the interim, please email jennyj@ilsg.sa.edu.au  or  julianh@ilsg.sa.edu.au / or for urgent matters telephone Daryl on 0422572992 or Julian on 0437440410.  We will endeavour to respond ASAP while we experience intermittent outages.

School Uniform
  • Winter Uniform is to be worn for Term 2 and 3.   This refers to the formal uniform which is grey trousers and long sleeve shirt for boys and the pinafore (or skirt) with white blouse for girls  (with / without the green jumper). Sports uniform consists of shorts or trackpants with T-shirt and rugby top.
There is a week changeover at the start of the term - so if the weather is unseasonably warm summer uniform can be worn (but not a mix of both).
  • Hats do not need to be worn in term 2 (as the UV rating is usually below 3)
  • Please ensure your child's name is clearly marked on their hat and jumper

Uniform purchases
  • All new uniform items have been moved into the new “Uniform Shop Room”.  This is located at the front of the toilet block / behind the staffroom / adjacent the Junior Primary classes.

Welcome to week 11, the finale to what has been a big term. Even with so much achieved, there is still so much more to come. But before we get into that...

May God bless your week and the holidays ahead. May it be a time of fun and frivolity but also one of rest and re-energising. And remember, the wise words shared in the movie Toy Story, 'Play Nice!'

A couple things that have/are going on this week...

Gawler Youth Forum

Today our students were involved in the Gawler youth forum hosted here at Immanuel. They were tasked with sharing their thoughts and opinions on the major issues that they see in Gawler, solutions for Gawler as well as giving their own opinions on how to improve Gawler and make it a more engaging place for today's youth.

Holes by Louis Sachar

We it has come down to this...(cue music) The big battle between the book and the movie. What will the comparisons be? What is the same? Who will come out and be crowned lord of the text?

Senior Unit Update Week 10

Welcome to Week 10 and we hope you have had a great Easter break. Whether you travelled or stayed home over the time we hope it was relaxing and enjoyable spending time with family.

As we head to the end of term there are still many things happening in the the Senior Unit. Here is a run down of the things ahead.

Parent Teacher Interviews
Tuesday night saw our second round of interviews. It has been great to catch up and talk about the learning that has been occurring and where we want to head for the rest of the year.
Thursday will be our last interview day and we look forward to meeting up and talking to you. If you haven't booked an interview time some are still available, if you can't make Thursday we would still like to meet and talk about student progress.

Sports Day

Next Friday is our Sports Day and it will be a great day as we exercise our athletic prowess. Team captains have been chosen and teams are getting ready.
Blue - Para Para - Alby Turnbull, Harvey McDonald
Green - Martindale - Madison Cleland, Brody Woods
Yellow - Trevu - Niamh Shaw, Zac Sadiwynk
Red- Clonlea - Maddison Blackmore, Taj Munn

Students need to wear sports uniform this Thursday as we have our first sports day event happening.
The Senior Unit will doing the obstacle course from 12.40 on Thursday.

Start of the School Day
The school day at ILSG begins at 8.50am. This when we want to start learning and as we line up a chance to share notices for the day. Being here by 8.50 is important as it gives a great whole day of learning.
On the flip side is that children can begin to arrive at school from 8.30pm. This is because before this time there is no teacher supervision and if things go pear shaped there is nobody to support them. If children need to be here before 8.30 they are required to go to OHSC so they have supervision.
We have spoken to students about this and they understand what will occur if they are here before 8.30.
